Introducing the E&T&C Standard

The Engagement, Transparency and Communication (E&T&C) Standard is a new international certification. It recognises organisations that demonstrate transparency and accountability in managing environmental impacts, particularly odour.
The new standard was developed by leading European environmental specialists and promoted by Ambiente et Odora S.L. and olores.org. It outlines a clear framework for how companies engage with communities, share environmental data, and involve stakeholders in key decisions.
Could You Benefit from E&T&C?
The Standard is for organisations whose operations have a noticeable environmental or social impact. In particular, those where odour can affect nearby communities.
This includes sectors such as waste management, wastewater treatment, agriculture, composting, food processing, and industrial manufacturing.
In these industries, effective communication and transparency aren’t just regulatory requirements. They support stronger community relationships, protect your public image, and highlight your environmental values.
What This Means for Our Customers
Our Project Manager, Victoria Sneath, is the first and only person in the United Kingdom to be formally certified as an E&T&C Auditor. Victoria’s certification makes Silsoe Odours the exclusive provider of these audits in the UK. As such, our clients have a unique opportunity to lead the way in socially responsible odour management. We can help clients demonstrate leadership in both environmental performance and community engagement.
An E&T&C audit delivers:
- A structured review of how your organisation communicates odour impacts
- Clear steps to improve transparency and build community trust
- The chance to stand out by aligning with an internationally recognised standard
For developers, site operators, and other stakeholders, this standard represents more than compliance. It is a strategy for building credibility, strengthening relationships, and demonstrating environmental excellence.
The UK’s First Certified Auditor

Victoria Sneath, Project Manager at Silsoe Odours, completed the inaugural E&T&C training programme. In doing so, she gained the knowledge and skills needed to assess organisations against the standard’s criteria. Her training focused on real-world approaches to evaluating data transparency, communication quality, and stakeholder engagement. All vital elements in today’s regulatory and community landscape.
Congratulations to Victoria for her achievement, as she leads the UK on this important initiative.
