The team at Silsoe Odours provides the highest-quality odour assessment, sampling, and testing services. We have many years of experience delivering independent, industry-leading technical expertise. Our odour laboratory was the first in the UK to achieve UKAS accreditation, a standard we have maintained for over 15 years. In addition, the team holds UKAS accreditation for on-site odour sampling and mCERTS certification for stack sampling.

ODOUR TESTING LABORATORY & ODOUR SAMPLING
UKAS ACCREDITED TO BSEN13725 AND ISO17025
UKAS is the “UK’s National Accreditation Body, responsible for determining, in the public interest, the technical competence and integrity of organisations such as those offering testing, calibration and certification services.”
Silsoe Odours was the first odour laboratory in the UK to gain UKAS accreditation for odour concentration measurements by dynamic olfactometry to ISO17025 according to European Standard BSEN13725. We have successfully maintained this achievement for over 15 years. We also hold UKAS accreditation for odour sampling according to the same standards.
Our Director, Robert Sneath, acted as the UK expert in the CEN working group TC264/WG2 – Olfactometry for more than 25 years. Starting the role in 1995, Robert was instrumental in the group’s development of the European standard EN13725 Air Quality – determination of odour concentration by dynamic olfactometry and odour emission rate. The updated standard was published in March 2022. We are currently working towards implementing the new EN13725:2022 standard in preparation for our next UKAS assessment.
STACK SAMPLING – MCERTS Certification
MCERTS is the Environment Agency’s Monitoring Certification Scheme. Silsoe Odours Director, Robert Sneath, is formally certified by the MCERTS performance standard to undertake stack sampling for odours. Robert achieved this qualification based on his vast experience, as well as specific MCERTS training and assessment.
